Join us and see how we keep the waste generated by Essex County and the surrounding region out of landfills. Additionally, we’ll share information about our investments to reduce emissions and our work to positively impact the Newark community. 

Every year, we process more than 985,000 tons of waste that would otherwise have ended up in landfills. From that waste we:

• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 916,000 tons of CO₂. That’s like taking 108,000 vehicles off the road.
• Produce more than 65 megawatts of electricity 24/7 - that’s enough energy to power 46,000 local homes.
• Recycle approximately 28,000 tons of metal every year - an amount that can build more than 20,000 cars.
